An event to add and grow
At the event, we shared the main initiatives related to sustainable food and some experiences of the organising companies which have left their legacy in Valencia
“Add in order to grow”. Initially conceived of as the slogan of the 1st AFE-APCE Congress, it then became the leitmotiv of the event. It was the first one held jointly by the Fairs Association and the Association of Spanish Fairs (AFE) and the Association of Spanish Conference Centres (APCE).
Held at FYCMA, the conference brought together some 180 professionals, aiming to join forces and drive the sector forward through innovation, digital transformation and sustainability.
In the words of our director, Sylvia Andrés, the sector “has, especially in recent years, demonstrated great adaptability and flexibility and has motivated us, even more, to work with optimism”.
The president of APCE, Iker Goikoetxea, welcomed the event with this impactful declaration: “Together, we will undoubtedly be more relevant”. It was attended by our director, the director of the Operations Department, Juan Antonio Peña, and the Head of Institutional Communications and External Relations, Trini Aguilar, who took part in the round table entitled "Verde que te quiero verde”, coordinated by Clara Arpa, president of the Spanish Network of the United Nations Global Compact, and also with the presence of Lourdes Viedma, Head of General Services and Quality at FYCMA, Javier Estebaranz González , from the Office of the Congresses and Tourism Service of the City Council of Vitoria-Gasteiz, and Santiago Quiroga, Director of Quality and Corporate Social Responsibility at IFEMA. During that debate, the issue of sustainability was addressed, as the cross-cutting guiding principle of the meetings industry. As a result of that forum, a Decalogue of Sustainable Measures was constructed, which will serve as a route map for conference centres and fair complexes to go into action and organise eco-sustainable events.
And now? With everything we have shared, learnt, experienced and enjoyed at that forum of conference centres and fair complexes...We will now move forward with even greater momentum!
