The VCC increases events by 3% and visitors by 4.5%The Valencia Conference Centre´s Board of Directors met to analyse the venue´s results for April to September 2010, which were approved unanimously.
The April to September report showed positive results which included a 3% rise in the number of events and a 4.5% increase in the number of visitors to the Centre. The venue held a total of 46 events during the period with a total of 43,267 visitors. 22 of these events were congresses and 5 were conventions. This constituted a 10% increase in occupancy compared to the same figures for 2009.
The major events held during this period included the Spanish Fertility Society Conference, the European Cystic Fibrosis Conference, the 2010 Festival of Media and several meetings held as a result of the Spanish Presidency of the European Union, such as the European Framework Programmes, the Conference on the Mediterranean Solar Plan, and the European Investment Bank meeting (FEMIP Conference).
According to the Conference Centre´s CEO, José Salinas, "bringing in good results at a difficult time is the outcome of all the hard work we have put in, based on controlled planning and efficient management which enables us to comply with our self-funding objectives".
On the economic front, total income rose by 6% in the first nine months of the year and EBITDA increased by 8%.
By the end of 2010, the Conference Centre will have hosted 2,000 events, welcomed over 1.3 million visitors and generated over 600 million euros for the city, more than 20 times the amount it cost to build.
During this period, the Valencia Conference Centre obtained the World?s Best Convention Centre award, the industry´s most important accolade given by the International Association of Congress Centres, whose members are the world´s top 160 conference venues. The Centre has also had its Recognised for Excellence (4 stars) award renewed by the European Foundation for Quality Management.
