Valencia climbs into the Top 50 of the world's leading congress destinations

Meeting tourism

The Conference Centre is the main venue for international delegates attending events in the city of Valencia

Valencia continues to improve its international standing. We have been repeating the same line for years, but when it appears in the most important MICE destination ranking, then we have a major reason to say we were right.

The fact is that in 2019 the city made considerable progress in its global standing in the International Congress and Convention Association's (ICCA) annual ranking and at the Valencia Conference Centre we are proud to have contributed to this. In this list, the city is not only moving up in the rankings; it is climbing fast and has entered the Top 50 of world congress destinations, rising from 92nd in 2018, to 48th in 2019. In total, it has climbed 44 places in one year, with its international meetings increasing by 80%. At European level, it has risen to 29th in the ranking.

2019, a record year for international meetings

These highly positive figures show that international visitors are committed to Valencia and this coincides with one of the best years for the Conference Centre in terms of international activity, which represented 48% of total business. 61% of congress participants came from abroad, a percentage that makes us a benchmark for MICE tourism on a global level.

Spain

Spain is fourth in the world ranking and is always in the Top 5 countries in terms of number of meetings. It comes second in the world in numbers of participants, with 349,000 visitors, second only to the United States (357,000).
