5G Global Event and Conference on Networks and Communications (EUCNC 2019)
The fifth generation of mobile communications is coming to Valencia in June making it the world’s 5G technology capital. Two major international gatherings, the 5G Global Event and the Conference on Networks and Communications (EuCNC 2019), are to be held at the Conference Centre on 16th-21st and 18th-21st June, respectively.
Leading researchers from around the world are set to meet at the 28th EuCNC to present the hottest technological breakthroughs and demonstrate the latest results of research projects, especially in the H2020 R&D programme co-financed by the European Commission. EuCNC 2019 will be accompanied by the Global 5G (G5GE) Event. The G5GE brings together 5G industry associations from five continents: 5G-IA, IMT-2020, 5G-Forum, 5G-MF, 5G-Brazil and 5G-Americas. In parallel to the scientific programme sessions, the G5GE will also be a discussion forum with the distinctive feature of live demos of 5G technology to be conducted in various points around the city including Valencia’s Marina, historic centre and City of Arts and Sciences.
5G connectivity will enable users to enjoy new experiences with a noticeable increase in performance as well as bringing download speeds of 1Gbps. Latency will also decrease and certain devices can be intelligently prioritized over others.
Recently, the Mobile World Congress showcased how new mobile technology is set to revolutionise society, and the baton has now been handed over to the Valencia Conference Centre. The international events held at the Centre will be a meeting point for researchers and the world’s leading companies in the industry to discuss the benefits of 5G technology.
“Taking practical examples of applications in these fields to the city’s streets helps society grasp that Valencia is a benchmark in many areas including 5G technology,” argues Narcís Cardona, Chair of EuCNC 2019 and Professor and Director of the Institute of Telecommunications and Multimedia Applications (iTEAM) at the Universitat Politècnica de València.
The exhibition area for these key events will feature a wide range of technologies and products resulting from projects co-financed by the European Commission, alongside technological developments driven by the leading telecom companies. Their numerous applications include the automotive industry, road safety and health.
The Conference is supported by the European Commission and sponsored by the IEEE Communications Society and the European Association for Signal Processing (EURASIP). It is one of the leading European events for communications and networks worldwide. This year it is looking at 5G telecommunications systems and networks and will attract over 500 delegates.
