ONCE Solidarity Awards

Spanish National Organisation for the Blind (ONCE)
21 de septiembre de 2018

The ONCE (Spanish National Organisation for the Blind) is celebrating its 80th anniversary by continuing to ensure the integration of people with disabilities and to improve their living conditions. Within this framework of total service commitment, the organisation aims to acknowledge the individuals and entities that have contributed to charity initiatives that dovetail with the Group's philosophy.

Through the ONCE Solidarity Awards, the Spanish National Organisation for the Blind pays tribute to the companies, NGOs, individuals, entities, government bodies, and communication projects and programmes which have contributed to the work carried out by the Group. This is based on the philosophy that permeates the social economy and objectives of the third sector, fostering the integration of all citizens in their local environment via normalisation, personal autonomy, universal accessibility and independent living.

Each year the ONCE establishes five award categories: institution, organisation, entity or NGO that has excelled in its social awareness or in its track record to promote social rights; the programme, article or communication project which has focused on important events that dovetail with the Group's core values; a person from a Spanish region who has dedicated their career and lifetime to these groups; a company that has contributed to employing socially vulnerable individuals; and finally, a governmental body that has excelled in developing ongoing programmes and projects for the prevention of disability and the promotion of universal accessibility and equal opportunities.

The Valencia Conference Centre supported this event as part of its CSR policy. Likewise, a picture of the Centre, which is also celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2018, will appear on the ONCE lottery ticket to be issued on 11th December, coinciding with the Centre's anniversary gala dinner.
