SUSTAINABILITY AND CSR
A SUSTAINABLE MINDSET ACROSS THE BOARD FROM THE SMALLEST GESTURES TO THE MOST AMBITIOUS INITIATIVES
THE ENTIRE TEAM AT THE VALENCIA CONFERENCE CENTRE IS ENVIRONMENTALLY AWARE
Through its ECO Project, the Valencia Conference Centre has developed a series of initiatives and measures that contribute to responsible management of resources and to reducing the environmental impact of our activities.
The Centre uses the most efficient LED lighting technology, and its systems are controlled electronically. It also uses sensors to regulate water use, and a filter system to reuse the water in the fountains as well as having a state-of-the-art air conditioning and heating system, and a separate waste recycling area.
- 2,100modules installed on photovoltaic panels
- 2.6 million kWh of energy generated since it was installed.
The ECO project is part of the Valencia Conference Centre’s Global Sustainability Plan which is based on commitment to excellence, quality and respect for the environment.
This carefully defined Plan makes the Valencia Conference Centre a benchmark in the implementation of sustainable practices, and the venue can be considered as a role model for implementing renewable energy sources. Innovation, efficiency and respect for the environment are the defining features of the project, which allows the Centre to hold a wide range of conferences and other events without harming its natural surroundings.
The Centre has been rewarded for its efforts in adopting these measures and in the building’s energy performance certificate it has obtained the most efficient grade for CO2 emissions. The building’s photovoltaic roof, which was installed in 2008 and has already generated over 2.6 million kWh of energy, has also contributed to achieving maximum efficiency.
This certification adds to the list of the other environmental certificates the Centre already has: ISO 14001, ISO 50001 and BREEAM® ES.
